The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will hold a public information meeting concerning the Route 146 Corridor Management Plan on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 6:30-8:00 p.m., at the Branford Fire Headquarters, 45 N. Main Street, Branford, CT 06405. A Question and Answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation. For instructions on how to access the meeting, ways to provide comments, and how to ask questions, please visit https://route146cmp.com/.

The meeting will provide the community with an opportunity to learn about and provide input on the final strategies to be included in the Route 146 Corridor Management Plan and preview the Draft Plan Document. The plan strategies are intended to address issues including roadside safety, flooding, bicycle and pedestrian mobility, and speed management, while preserving the unique historical and environmental qualities of the corridor.

“We encourage members of the Branford and Guildford communities to share their transportation experiences and concerns with the CTDOT team,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Patrick Zapatka. “The final Corridor Management Plan for Route 146 will aim to protect important natural and cultural resources, while providing a safe roadway for all users.”

The purpose of the project is to develop a Corridor Management Plan (CMP) for Route 146 in Branford and Guilford. The purpose of creating a CMP is to review the Route 146 corridor and how to protect its many historical, cultural, and environmental resources. The CMP will balance caring for these important resources with providing a safe roadway for all travelers and respecting the desires of the community, residents, and local businesses. It will also look at ways to make the corridor more resilient and prepared for climate risks, such as flooding.

Right-of-way impacts associated with this planning project are not anticipated.

The meeting will be located at the at the Branford Fire Headquarters, 45 N. Main Street, Branford, CT 06405. Parking is available in the attached parking lot. The meeting will be in the conference room on the second floor of the Fire Headquarters. The Fire Headquarters has an elevator to access the second floor.
