The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct a virtual public information meeting concerning the replacement of bridge carrying Juniper Lane over Mount Hope River in Mansfield on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 7:00 p.m.
The virtual public information meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project. The meeting will take place on Zoom, and registration is required. A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation, which will be recorded. For instructions on accessing the meeting and ways to provide comments and ask questions, please visit https://portal.ct.gov/dotmansfield77-248.
“The purpose of this project is to increase the roadway width to meet federal standards, mitigate scour, improve hydraulics, improve load carrying capacity, and improve safety standards for the bridge and approach rail systems,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Michelle Rame. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”
Right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed project will include partial takes, drainage right of way, permanent slope easements, temporary construction easements along with rights to grade, rights to construct driveways, and rights to remove and reconstruct stone walls.
Construction is expected to begin spring 2027 depending on funding, right-of-way acquisition, and permits. The estimated cost is $4.55 million with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
This meeting will be livestreamed on CTDOT's YouTube channel at youtube.com/@ctdotofficial, and closed captioning will be available. Non-English translation options will be available on Zoom and YouTube. The recording will also be posted immediately following the meeting in the list of CTDOT virtual public meetings at portal.ct.gov/ctdotVPIMarchive.
