The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct a virtual public information meeting concerning safety and operational improvements to the Saugatuck River Railroad Bridge in Westport on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 6:00 p.m.
This virtual meeting is being held to provide the public the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project. A Q&A session will immediately follow the presentation, which will be recorded. Registration is required, please refer to the project webpage for more information portal.ct.gov/DOTWestport0301-0563.
“The purpose of this project is to replace several structures of the bridge, such as the access ladders, upper platforms, and guy wires on the two tall towers, on the Saugatuck River Railroad Bridge,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Supervising Rail Officer Jay Young. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”
Right-of-way impacts are not associated with the proposed project.
Construction is anticipated to begin in 2025. The estimated construction cost for this project is projected to be about $5 million, with 100% state funds.
