The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing traffic signal safety and technology enhancements will commence on April 3, 2023.
This project will remove the programmed flashing operation, installing 360-degree stop bar detection cameras and added dilemma zone detection radar units at 35 state-owned traffic control signals in southwestern Connecticut. Six locations that have exclusive pedestrian phases will have the non-countdown indications replaced with countdown pedestrian indications. At locations that do not currently have arterial detection, video or other type of detection will be installed on the arterial approaches. All existing traffic signal equipment will remain except the 6 locations that will have the non-countdown pedestrian indications replaced.
DOT Project No. 0173-0500 was awarded to The NY Conn Corp, Inc. at a cost of $2,062,472.00 November 3, 2022, and is scheduled to be completed on October 20, 2023. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 3 in New Haven.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
There will be intermittent lane closures Monday through Friday between 9: a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Some intersections and side roads allow intermittent lane closures Saturday and Sunday between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Permitted closures during active work periods may restrict traffic to alternating one way traffic, with active traffic control, police or flagging personal.
