Nightly Closures of the East Haddam Swing Bridge on Route 82 in East Haddam and Haddam

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that overnight road closures of Route 82 over the Connecticut River (East Haddam Swing Bridge) will occur every night from February 20, 2023, to March 3, 2023, with the possibility of Saturday and Sunday night closures if weekday nights are canceled due to inclement weather.

Route 82 over the Connecticut River will be closed from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. every night starting on February 20, 2023 until March 3, 2023.

DOT Project No. 0041-0141 was awarded to American Bridge Company at a cost of $55,255,000 on June 7, 2022. It is scheduled to be completed February 25, 2025.  This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich.

 

LANE CLOSURE INFO

 

There will be full bridge closures to vehicular traffic over the Connecticut River (Route 82) every night starting on February 20, 2023, until March 3, 2023. The road closures all start at 7:00 p.m. and go until 6:00 a.m. the following day.

 

DETOUR INFO

 

Route 82 Eastbound

From Route 82 East, traffic will be detoured onto Route 9 South to I-95 North to Route 156 North to Route 82 West.

 

Route 82 Westbound

From Route 82 West, traffic will be detoured onto Route 156 South to I-95 South (across the Baldwin Bridge) to Route 9 North to Route 82 East.
