The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing a project consisting of milling and overlaying portions of Interstate 84 and associated bridges and ramps in the Vernon, Tolland, and Willington on I-84 Eastbound between Exit 68 to Exit 71 and Westbound between Exit 71 and Exit 67. This project also involves reconstruction of deck ends, bridge joint work, membrane, and intersection improvements at Int. 142-204 (Tolland).
Temporary lane closures and ramp detours associated with the milling and paving will begin on Sunday, April 2, 2023.
DOT Project No. 0146-0204 was awarded to Empire Paving Inc. at a cost of $22,405,696.55 on August 2, 2022 and is scheduled to be completed August 17, 2023. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.
LANE CLOSURE INFO:
Starting Sunday, April 2, 2023 with anticipated completion of August 17, 2023, there will be various lane and associated ramp closures impacting the following:
I-84 Eastbound between Exit 68 to Exit 71, Sunday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
I-84 Westbound between Exit 71 and Exit 66, Sunday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
DETOUR INFO:
Starting Sunday, April 2, 2023 with anticipated completion of August 17, 2023, there will be intermittent ramps closures between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. as detailed below:
- I-84 eastbound Exit 69 On Ramp will be detoured on Rt. 74 to I-84 westbound to Exit 68 westbound back to I-84 eastbound.
- I-84 westbound Exit 68 On Ramp will be detoured on Rt. 195 to I-84 eastbound to Exit 69 to Rt. 74 to I-84 westbound.
- I-84 westbound Exit 69 On Ramp will be detoured on Rt. 74 to I-84 eastbound to Exit 70 to Rt. 32 to I-84 westbound.
- I-84 westbound Exit 70 On Ramp will be detoured on Rt. 32 to I-84 eastbound to Exit 71 to Rt. 320 to I-84 westbound.
- I-84 eastbound Exit 69 Off Ramp will be detoured to Exit 70 Rt. 32 back to I-84 westbound to Exit 69.
- I-84 eastbound Exit 70 Off Ramp will be detoured to Exit 71 Rt. 320 and back to I-84 westbound to Exit 70.
- I-84 westbound Exit 68 Off Ramp will be detoured to Exit 67 Rt. 31 and back to I-84 eastbound to Exit 68.
- I-84 westbound Exit 69 Off Ramp will be detoured to Exit 68 Rt. 195 and back to I-84 eastbound to Exit 69.
- I-84 westbound Exit 67 Off Ramp will be detoured to Exit 66 Rt. 542 to Rt. 541 and back to I-84 EB to Exit 69.
- I-84 eastbound Rest Area will be closed during paving operations.Traffic will be detoured to Exit 71 Rt. 320 and back to I-84 Westbound Rest Area.
