The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that, in order to facilitate construction work associated with the Route 8/I-84 Interchange (Mixmaster), rehabilitation project in Waterbury, Exit 31 (Route 8 Northbound to I-84 Eastbound) will be closed beginning May 19, 2023.
Motorists are advised that Exit 31 will be closed beginning May 19, 2023, for approximately eight weeks. The closure is necessary to complete bridge deck rehabilitation efforts where the ramp meets mainline I-84 Eastbound. I-84 Westbound Exit 19 (I-84 Westbound to Route 8 Southbound) will reopen prior to the closure of Exit 31.
The project consists of the rehabilitation of numerous bridges located within the Route 8 and I-84 Interchange (DOT Project No. 151-326/151-312/151-313) and was awarded to Walsh Construction Company at a cost of $152,960,945.27 on April 18, 2018.
