The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a bridge joint maintenance, milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 2 & SR 500, including ramps, starting on or around June 7.
The project consists of bridge joint removal, milling and resurfacing a 0.82-mile segment of Route 2 from Columbus Boulevard to Pitkin Street and a 0.51-mile segment of SR 500 from .01 mi n/o UP WB I-84 Access Ramp to NB Governor Street.
This project is scheduled to begin bridge joint removal on Monday, May 9, 2022, to Monday June 13, 2022. The milling and resurfacing segment of this project is anticipated to begin on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, to Wednesday July 20, 2022.
DOT Project No.DOT01710479CN “A” & “I” was awarded to Tilcon CT Inc. for the milling and resurfacing. The bridge joint removal will be performed by State Forces.
This project is included in the Department of Transportation’s 2022 Vendor-in-Place Resurfacing Program.
LANE CLOSURE INFO:
Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 2 from Columbus Boulevard to OP Pitkin Street in East Hartford & SR 500 from .01 mi n/o UP WB I-84 Access Ramp to NB Governor Street. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

This detour is scheduled to begin Sunday, June 12, 2022 to Thursday, June 16, 2022.
Ramp Closure = SR 500, Governor Street on ramp for I-84 WB, Route 2 WB & EB
Detour = East on Governor Street to right on Route 5 (Main Street) to SR 502 (Silver Lane)
