The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing a scheduled overnight closure and detour of Route 8 southbound in Waterbury at Exit 32 beginning on July 23, 2021, at 11 PM, and reopening on July 24, 2021, at 6 AM. The closure and detour are necessary to facilitate ongoing construction activities associated with the rehabilitation of the Route 8/I-84 Interchange (Mixmaster) project.
The detour will be signed and will direct motorists to follow Route 8 southbound to Exit 32 (Riverside Street), and then to follow Riverside Street to the Route 8 southbound Naugatuck/Bridgeport on-ramp.
