Wrong Way Driver Detection Maintenance and Recertification in Southern Connecticut

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that wrong way driver detection preventative maintenance and recertification will be performed on I-95 and I-91 in Branford, East Haven, New Haven, West Haven, Orange, Bridgeport, Fairfield, and Westport, Norwalk, New Canaan and Greenwich.

The locations and dates of work included are:

Monday, April 20, 2026 | 7:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.

  • I-95 Northbound at Exit 46 in New Haven
  • I-95 Northbound at Exit 50 in New Haven
  • I-95 Northbound at Route 1 at Forbes Ave on-ramp in East Haven
  • I-95 Southbound at Exit 48 in New Haven
  • I-91 Northbound at Exit 2 in New Haven

Tuesday, April 21, 2026 | 7:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.

  • I-95 Southbound at Exit 29 in Bridgeport
  • I-95 Southbound at Exit 21 in Fairfield
  • I-95 Southbound at Exit 17 in Westport
  • I-95 Northbound at Exit 17 in Westport

Wednesday, April 22, 2026 | 7:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.

  • I-95 Northbound at Exit 55 in Branford
  • I-95 Southbound at Exit 55 in Branford
  • I-95 Southbound at Exit 42 in West Haven
  • I-95 Southbound at Exit 41 in Orange

Thursday, April 23, 2026 | 7:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.

  • Route 15 Southbound at Exit 17 in Norwalk
  • Route 15 Southbound at Exit 15 in New Canaan
  • I-95 Northbound at Exit 5 in Greenwich

The project 0170-3638 consists of wrong way driver detection preventative maintenance and recertification across District 3 in Connecticut. This project is being performed by State Forces, TAPCO, Fiber Optics Plus and Electrical Representatives.

 

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

Traffic will follow posted detours and advised to seek alternate routes during the ramp closures listed above.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
