Temporary Nighttime Ramp Closures of Exit 45-49 Along I-91 in East Windsor and Enfield

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that nighttime pavement preservation will be performed in East Windsor and Enfield which requires the temporary closure of on and off-ramps at Exit 45-49. The nighttime ramp closures are scheduled to start on Monday, October 12 and are anticipated to last four weeks. The project consists of guard rail replacement and upgrade, cleaning catch basins, and curb installation. This work applies to all interstate on and off-ramps within the project limits.

CTDOT Project No. 0046-0131 was awarded to Tilcon Connecticut, Inc. at a cost of $30,674,887.00 on March 26, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed in April 2027. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill. 

 

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

There will be ramp closures on I-91 north and southbound from Exit 45-49 nightly, Monday through Thursday from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Only one ramp will be closed at a time. Electronic message boards and detour signage will direct motorists. Traffic control signing patterns, State and local police and flaggers will guide motorists through the work zone. Follow the posted detours or seek alternative routes.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
