The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing improvements at the Southington Rest Area starting April 1, 2026. The rest area will be repaved and expanded with the installation of new drainage, lighting and rest area fixtures along with construction of 3 stormwater ponds for better drainage.
CTDOT Project No. 0131-0211 was awarded to Tilcon CT, inc. at a cost of $7,900,342.00 on January 29, 2026, and is scheduled to be completed November 30, 2027. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 5 in New Haven.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
There will be no highway closures, but motorists and truck drivers can expect parking lots of the rest area to be closed or have reduced spaces due to construction activities.
