Roadway Reconstruction and Lane Closure on Route 15 Northbound in Meriden

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing full-depth roadway reconstruction will be performed on Route 15 Northbound from Miller Avenue to Paddock Avenue in Meriden. This work is scheduled to occur for three separate weeks. Two weeks for the right lane and one week for the left lane. Work will occur between Sundays at 6:00 p.m. to Fridays at 3:00 p.m., beginning on Sunday, May 31 at 6:00 PM.

CTDOT Project No. 0079-0246 was awarded to O&G Industries at a cost of $185,000,000 on January 29, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed November 30, 2028. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.

 

ALTERNATE ROUTE INFORMATION

The lane closure on Route 15 Northbound may cause congestion when approaching the Miller Avenue vicinity, and travelers are advised to seek alternate routes, to I-91 Northbound with connections to Route 15 Northbound and I-691:

Alternate Route to I-91 Northbound from Route 15 Northbound in Hamden:

  • Take Route 15 Northbound Exit 52
  • Left onto Dixwell Avenue at end of ramp
  • Left onto ramp to Route 40 South
  • Take Exit 1-A onto ramp for I-91 Northbound (Exit is on the left)

 

Alternate Route from Route 15 Northbound in North Haven:

  • Take Route 15 Northbound Exit 53 (Route 22 North Haven)
  • Right onto Route 22 East (Bishop Street, then changes to Route 5 and Clintonville Road)
  • Left onto Route 5 North (Washington Avenue)
  • Right onto the ramp for I-91 Northbound

 

Alternate Route from Route 15 Northbound in Yalesville:

  • Take Route 15 Northbound Exit 61
  • Left onto Route 5 South towards Wallingford at end of ramp
  • Left onto ramp to Route 68
  • Left at light for Route 68E
  • Left onto ramp for I-91 Northbound

 

Changeable message signs will be located in advance of the above alternate routes to encourage diversion during the lane closure.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
