The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that replacement of speed limit signs will be performed on local rural roads in Andover, Berlin, Bloomfield, Bolton, Coventry, Durham, Ellington, Glastonbury, Middlefield, Somers, Stafford, Tolland, Union, Willington, Ashford, Bozrah, Brooklyn, Canterbury, Chaplin, Chester, Colchester, Columbia, Deep River, East Haddam, East Hampton, East Lyme, Eastford, Franklin, Griswold, Haddam, Hebron, Killingly, Killingworth, Lebanon, Ledyard, Lisbon, Lyme, Mansfield, Marlborough, Montville, North Stonington, Old Lyme, Plainfield, Pomfret, Portland, Preston, Putnam, Salem, Scotland, Sprague, Sterling, Stonington, Thompson, Voluntown, Waterford, Westbrook, Windham, and Woodstock. This project is scheduled to start on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 and be completed on Saturday, July 31, 2027. The project 0170-3756 consists of replacing post-mounted sheet aluminum speed limit signs on local rural roads. All of the existing speed limit signs are to be replaced with new, retroreflective signs to ensure their proper placement and compliance with the current sign requirements
CTDOT Project No. 0170-3756 was awarded to Discount Fence of Connecticut at a cost of $1,559,298.40 on March 20, 2026 and is scheduled to be completed July 31, 2027. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
There will be shoulder closures and alternating one way traffic on local roads from Wednesday, July 1, 2026 to Saturday, July 31, 2027. Traffic control signing patterns, uniformed flaggers and/or municipal police officers will guide motorists through the work zone.
