The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that bridge rehabilitation will be performed on I-84 near Sigourney Street in Hartford. This project is scheduled to occur on Friday, April 10, 2026, and be completed on Friday, July 16, 2027. Project 0063-0732 consists of superstructure steel repair and strengthening, metallizing of beam ends and locations with heavy/active rust susceptible areas, repair and strengthening of steel pier caps to improve condition and bridge load ratings, repair of the bridge drainage system, and repair of concrete substructure components.
CTDOT Project No. 0063-0732 was awarded to Mohawk Northeast, Inc. at a cost of
$22,299,670.55 on February 24, 2026, and is scheduled to be completed July 16, 2027. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
There will be lane and shoulder closures on I-84 near Sigourney Street from Friday, April 10, 2026, to Friday, July 16, 2027, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Traffic control signing patterns and State Troopers will guide motorists through the work zone.
Additionally, I-84 eastbound Exit 48 on-ramp from Sisson Avenue will be closed on various nights from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Traffic will follow the posted detoured or to seek alternate routes.
A section of Capitol Avenue between Laurel Street and Sigourney Street/Park Terrace will be closed on different nights from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Two-way traffic will be detoured onto Laurel, Hawthorn, Sigourney streets, and Park Terrace via the roundabout.
Traffic control signing patterns will detour and guide motorists around these work zones. Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
