The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that nighttime electrical work will be performed on I-84 in the Hartford Tunnel in Hartford. This project is anticipated to start on Sunday, August 23 and anticipated to be completed on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. This project consists of lamp replacements, maintenance and repairs to the existing pendants and wall mounted lights on left and right side of the tunnel.
Project No. 0063-0752 was awarded to Advanced Energy Group (AEG) at the cost of $786,422.72 on July 1, 2026. This project is administered by DOT Office of Engineering and District 1 Maintenance in Hartford.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
Various lane closures are expected on I-84 in the Hartford Tunnel during an estimated construction period of August 23 through September 15, 2026. The schedule is subject to change based on project needs and field conditions. Lane closures are anticipated to occur from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. and from Sunday to Wednesday with anticipated rain date of Thursday. Traffic control signing patterns, state troopers, and crash units will guide motorists through the work zone.
