The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 229 in Southington from Hart Street to Sommers Hill Drive. This project is scheduled to occur on Sunday, August 16 and be completed on Thursday, August 27, 2026. The project DOT01710506CN consists of milling and resurfacing a 1.08-mile segment of Route 229 in Southington from Hart Street to Sommers Hill Drive This project is scheduled to begin milling by Rafferty on Sunday, August 16 to Thursday, August 20, 2026. The resurfacing segment of this project by Tilcon is anticipated to begin on Sunday, August 23 to Thursday, August 27, 2026. This project is included in CTDOT’s 2026 Vendor Resurfacing Program.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
Motorists can expect lane closures of Route 229 in Southington from Hart Street to Sommers Hill Drive and the temporary closure of I-84 westbound Exit 31 off-ramp, detours will be in place. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The work schedule for this project is from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Sunday to Friday.
