Mandatory 20 Ton Truck Detour for Putnam Bridge in Wethersfield and Glastonbury

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing a truck detour for the Putnam Memorial Bridge (No. 00417) over Connecticut River in Wethersfield and Glastonbury, effective on May 4, 2026. The truck detour is associated with the previously imposed 20-ton weight restriction and will be in effect until no later than November 3, 2028.

Vehicles in excess of 20 tons will be advised to seek alternative routes or follow posted Route 3 truck detour signs on I-91 and Route 2 through Wethersfield, Hartford, East Hartford, and Glastonbury. Certain emergency vehicles are exempt from this restriction.
