Lane Closures on Bridge Street Route 140 in Windsor Locks

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing alternating one-way traffic of Route 140, Bridge Street over the Connecticut River will be in effect from Monday night April 13 until Friday night, April 17, 2026.

This overnight alternating lane closure is being utilized to facilitate excavation across bridge Street as part of the Amtrak railroad project at the Bridge Street grade crossing.

CTDOT Project No. 0320-0026 was awarded to Walsh Construction Company II., LLC. at a cost of ($37,167,000.00) on May 14, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed November 23, 2027. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 5 in New Haven.

 

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

Route 140 will have alternating lane closures during the hours of 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. nightly starting on April 13 until approximately 6:00 a.m. on April 18, 2026. Daytime traffic will resume normally during non-work hours. Work zone traffic control devices and Police officers will be used to direct traffic.
