The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing improvements to the Spencer Street and Buckland Street Park and Ride lots in Manchester. The work is part of a long-term effort to improve pedestrian and bus travel experience. Bus service will remain operational throughout phased improvements
Construction at Spencer Street Park and Ride is scheduled to begin April 6 and work at Buckland Street Park and Ride is scheduled to begin May 11, 2026. Both projects are anticipated to be completed by the end of October 2026.
Both projects will be completed in planned phases to ensure that parking spaces and bus service remain available throughout construction. Portions of each lot will temporarily close as crews move from one work area to another, and parkers and riders may experience short-term detours or changes to parking and bus boarding locations. Signage will be posted at the lots to guide Park and Ride users through temporary detours during construction.
CTDOT Project No. 0170-3440 was awarded to Genovesi Construction, LLC at a cost of $5,659,479.71 on October 10, 2025 and is scheduled to be completed October 30, 2026. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 4 in Thomaston.
ADDITIONAL INFO
During these construction projects, commuters are encouraged to allow extra time when traveling through the affected lots and follow any posted signs for temporary detours or boarding changes. The public should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.
