The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing a new traffic pattern on I-95 northbound that will be implemented beginning Friday, August 28, 2026, between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. As part of ongoing construction activities, northbound traffic will be shifted into two travel lanes located in the center of the highway across the Gold Star Memorial Bridge. Construction work areas will be located both on the left and right sides of the northbound travel lanes.
The new traffic pattern is expected to remain in place for approximately two years to accommodate the next phase of construction which includes bridge deck removal and replacement.
Drivers are urged to slow down, remain alert, obey posted speed limits and signs, and use caution when traveling through the work zone.
CTDOT Project No. 0094-0261 was awarded to MSR Gold Star Partners at a cost of $721,348,812 on October 03, 2025, and estimated to be completed Fall of 2030. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich.
