The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the bridge carrying Route 317 (Sycamore Avenue) over Hesseky Brook in Woodbury will be continuously closed starting Monday, January 12, 2026, until further notice. The purpose of this project is to replace and rehabilitate Bridge No. 01671. During a recent paving operation, deterioration of the bridge was discovered. Following additional inspections, the decision was made to replace the structure.
CTDOT Project No. 0168-0166 was awarded to Dayton Construction at a cost of $3,500,000 on September 8, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed May 15, 2026. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 4 in Thomaston.

Route 317 (Sycamore Avenue) at Hesseky Brook will be closed to all traffic starting Monday, January 12, 2026, until further notice. Residents in the immediate project area will still be able to access their homes. Please seek alternate routes and avoid the area when possible. Traffic control signing patterns and flaggers will be on site to guide motorists through the detour.
