Concrete Barrier Installation on I-95 in Stonington and North Stonington

6/02/2026

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that vertical face concrete barrier will be installed along I-95 Northbound at Bridge Nos. 01798 (Pequot Trail), 01806 (North Anguilla Road), and 01814 (Boom Bridge Road) from May 19 to June 10, 2026.

Vertical face concrete barrier wall will be constructed along the right-side edge of I-95 Northbound at Bridge Nos. 01798 (Pequot Trail), 01806 (North Anguilla Road), and 01814 (Boom Bridge Road). These vertical face concrete barrier walls will protect these bridge piers from vehicle collisions and prevent the chance of catastrophic damage to these overhead bridges. These vertical face concrete barrier walls will be constructed between May 19 and June 10, 2026. During this time the right shoulder will remain closed.

CTDOT Project No. 0058-0340 was awarded to American Industries at a cost of $38,250,000.00 on January 21, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2026 by Tilcon Connecticut. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich. American Industries was acquired by Tilcon Connecticut on October 3, 2025.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

There will be right shoulder closures along I-95 northbound at Bridge Nos. 01798 (Pequot Trail), 01806 (North Anguilla Road), and 01814 (Boom Bridge Road).  Pavement line striping, traffic control devices including concrete barriers, drums, signage, and state troopers will guide motorists through the work zones.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
