The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a full closure of Route 140 (Bridge Street) over the Connecticut River will be in effect from Saturday, January 31 until Sunday, February 1, 2026. This weekend road closure is being utilized to facilitate crane picks of pre-cast beams as part of the Amtrak railroad project at the Bridge Street grade crossing.
CTDOT Project No. 0320-0026 was awarded to Walsh Construction Company II., LLC. at a cost of ($37,167,000.00) on May 14, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed November 23, 2027. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 5 in New Haven.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
ROUTE 140 will be closed to through traffic from 7:00 p.m. on January 31 until approximately 4:00 p.m. on February 1, 2026. Thru traffic will be detoured but local resident access will be maintained from Route 159. Detour signs and changeable message boards will be used to direct traffic.
