The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that center line rumble strips will be installed on multiple routes throughout Sharon, Salisbury, Litchfield, Goshen, Suffield, Barkhamsted, Torrington, Harwinton, Danbury, Southbury, Middlebury and Newtown. This project consists of installing center line rumble strips on multiple routes in northwest Connecticut. This project is scheduled to begin on or about Wednesday, April 1 and continue through Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
The locations of work are listed below:
- Route 41 in Sharon/Salisbury from Route 4 to Route 44 (Main Street)
- Route 63 in Litchfield/Goshen from just south of Deming Road to just north of Ivey Mountain Rd #1
- Route 109 in Morris from Route 209 (Bantam Lake Rd) to Route 63
- Route 168 in Suffield from South Stone St to Route 75 (North Main Street)
- Route 181 in Barkhamsted from Route 44 to South Junction eastbound Route 318
- Route 202 in Torrington from Fern Dr to New Hartford town line
- Route 4 in Harwinton from Route 118 (Litchfield Road) to Burlington town line
- Route 6 in Danbury from the New York state line to .02 Miles East of Driftway Road
- Route 188 in Southbury/Middlebury from Route 67 to Route 64 (Middlebury Road) - to Burlington town line
- Route 816 in Newtown from Washington Street to Southbury town line
The project 0174-0474 consists of adding Center line Rumble Strips to current standard.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
There will be lane closures at the various routes listed above from Wednesday, April 1 to Tuesday September 15, 2026, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. No work will be performed on Holidays. Traffic control signing patterns and flaggers will guide motorists through the work zone.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
