The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of construction in Bloomfield, Plainville, Hartford, Wethersfield, East Hartford as noted below. Future notice will be provided on a site-by-site basis when traffic impacts are anticipated.
The following locations are included:
- Bloomfield: Route 187 over Farmington River and Tunxis Avenue
- Wethersfield: I-91 North and Southbound over Providence and Worcester Railroad
- Plainville: I-84 West and Eastbound over SR 536 (Woodford Avenue)
- Hartford: I-84 East and Westbound over Hamilton Street
- East Hartford: I-84 Eastbound HOV over Route 15 and Silver Lane off-ramp, as well as I-84 Eastbound HOV and Westbound ramp over I-84, Route 15 and Ramp A
CTDOT Contract No. 0171-0499/0500 was awarded to Mohawk Northeast, Inc. at a cost of $28,874,976.95 on December 24, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed November 30, 2027. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Cromwell.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
Traffic control signing patterns, municipal traffic persons, state troopers and flaggers will guide motorists through the individual work zones. Temporary traffic control will be utilized during off-peak hours.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
