Bridge Rehabilitation on I-384 over I-84 in East Hartford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation i is announcing bridge rehabilitation on Bridge Nos. 05685 & 05686 carrying I-384 over I-84 in East Hartford starting on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. The project consists of milling, paving, parapet and bridge deck repairs to bridges 05685 and 05686 carrying I-384 over I-84 in East Hartford.

 CTDOT Project No. 0042-0329 was awarded to Mohawk Northeast, Inc. at a cost of $7,391,063.55 on December 1, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed November 30, 2026. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District One in Rocky Hill.

 

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
The I-384 eastbound HOV entrance ramp will be closed starting Monday, April 6 to November 30, 2026. Traffic will be detoured to stay on I-84. Traffic control signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone and detour.

Lane closures can be expected Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., as well as Saturday and Sundays 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Stage construction is anticipated throughout the duration of the project, including shifting traffic for installation of temporary barrier and bridge repairs along I-384.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
