The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing wrong way detection activations will take place across Connecticut at various locations in Vernon, Cromwell, Hartford, Manchester and East Hartford. These activation are scheduled to start on Monday, October 20 and be completed on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
The Wrong Way Detection System uses video cameras to detect vehicles that are traveling in the wrong direction. If a vehicle is detected, wrong way signs outlined with multiple sets of red lights are activated and begin flashing to alert the driver they are traveling in the wrong direction. Additionally, the system alerts the CTDOT Highway Operations Center and local State Police Troop barracks in real-time, allowing staff to monitor the activities of the wrong way driver on the ramp.
The following locations are included:
- I-84 east and westbound at Exit 67 in Vernon
- I84 eastbound at Exit 68 in Vernon
- Route 9 southbound at Exit 27
- I-84 westbound at Exit 50
- I-91 north and southbound at Exit 32b
- I-384 eastbound at Exit 1
- I-384 westbound at Exit 1b
- I-84 east and westbound at Exit 56
