The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that work on Bridge 00571, the Commodore Hull Bridge, which carries Route 8 over the Housatonic River and Route 110 in Shelton and Derby continues. This project is scheduled to be completed by the end of November 2025. This project ensures the bridge remains in a state of good repair.
This project is being performed by Mohawk Northeast Inc.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
Please note that the split lanes on Route 8 northbound will be removed on Thursday night, November 6, 2025. The split lanes on Route 8 southbound will be removed on Friday night November 7, 2025.
The left lane on Route 8 northbound will be closed between exits 12A and 12B beginning Friday morning, November 7, 2025. The left lane on Route 8 southbound will be closed between exits 12A and 12B beginning Saturday morning, November 8, 2025. This traffic pattern will be in place until the end of November 2025.
Two lanes of traffic will be maintained during the daytime and one lane of traffic will be maintained at nighttime as follows:
Northbound
Monday-Friday: 8:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
Saturday: 8:00 p.m. – 9:00 a.m.
Sunday: 8:00 p.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Southbound:
Monday-Friday: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
Saturday: 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
Sunday: 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 a.m.
All ramps will remain open.
Future ramp closures, detours and changes to the hours of work will be posted in future press releases. Traffic control signing patterns, crash units, illuminated arrows, and traffic control personnel will guide motorists through the work zone.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
