The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that part of the sidewalk area at the scenic overlook will be under construction from November 3 to November 14, 2025, in Groton and Mystic.
The sidewalk area at the scenic overlook, prior to Exit 90 on I-95 northbound, will be shut down to accommodate the replacement of the existing chain link fencing with new decorative fencing. This sidewalk area will be closed off to the public from November 3 to November 14, 2025. During this period the scenic overlook will remain open, however pedestrian access along the sidewalk will be closed off to allow safe construction of the new fencing.
CTDOT Project No. 0058-0340 was awarded to American Industries at a cost of $38,250,000.00 on January 21, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2026. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich. American Industries was acquired by Tilcon Connecticut on October 3, 2025.
