Resurfacing Rehabilitation and Safety Improvements on Route 2 in Colchester

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that roadway and bridge rehabilitation work will be performed on Route 2 east and westbound in Colchester between new Exit 20 and 25. This project is scheduled to occur on Tuesday, April 1 and be completed on November 30, 2026. The project 0028-0211 consists of pavement rehabilitation and resurfacing of the east and westbound Route 2 with roadway, drainage modifications, safety improvements to upgrade guiderail to current standards, and rehabilitation and improvements to the various bridges within the project limits.

CTDOT Project No. 0028-0211 was awarded to American Roma JV at a cost of $43,699,900.00 on January 6, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed November 30, 2026. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich.

 

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

There will be various nighttime lane closures on Route 2 between Exits 20 and 25. Eastbound nighttime lane closures may occur Monday through Thursday between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. and Friday between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Westbound nighttime lane closures may occur Monday through Friday between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Traffic control signing patterns with State Troopers will guide motorists through the work zone.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
