The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the replacement of Bridge No. 02231 carrying Route 202 over Still Brook in Litchfield. This project is scheduled to start construction activities on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, and be completed on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. During the project, temporary lane closures with alternating traffic will be implemented when needed to ensure the safety of workers and the public. Additionally, the project consists of a 76-day full detour, starting in June 2025. The work includes removal of existing Bridge No. 02231 and surrounding masonry, excavation for new structure and associated micropile installation, channel work which consists of replacement of streambed materials, toe boulders, and rock weirs. The construction of a new bridge, full depth road construction/replacement of HMA, installation of guide rail, topsoil, and plantings.
CTDOT Project No. 0073-0194 was awarded to Dayton Construction at a cost of $2,937,549.35 on November 11, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed September 16, 2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 4 in Thomaston.

Motorists can expect various lane closures on Route 202 starting April 1, 2025. A closure of Route 202 will start on Monday, June 16, 2025, to Sunday, August 31, 2025. Traffic traveling westbound on Route 202 will be detoured around the project utilizing State Route 209 south, connecting at State route 109 west, to Route 47 north. Traffic traveling eastbound on Route 202 will be detoured on State Route 47 south, to State Route 109 east, to State Route 209 north. Traffic control signage patterns and uniformed flaggers will guide motorists through the work zone.
