The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) and New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) are announcing the replacement of existing superstructures with prefabricated bridge units carrying I-684 over the Bryam River in Greenwich, CT, and North Castle, NY between Exit 2 and 3 on four weekends between July 9 and August 25, 2025. The structures are located approximately 2 miles south of the I-684 and New York State Route 22 interchange (I-684 northbound mile point 1.4). The purpose and need for the projects is to address the structural deficiencies of the two bridges.
This project is scheduled to start on March 24, 2025, and be completed in November 2025.
The work is being performed by Mohawk Northeast, Inc.
LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION
There will be nighttime lane closures on I-684 from Exit 2 to 3 between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. The superstructure replacements will occur on four (4) weekends (two weekends per superstructure replacement) from July 9 to August 25, 2025. Additional messaging will be used to direct traffic around the construction zones during these weekends. Temporary crossovers will be constructed in the median to accommodate two lanes of I-684 northbound and two lanes of I-684 southbound. The work will occur from Friday evening after rush hour to Monday morning prior to rush hour. Notification for scheduled weekend work will be in advance by NYSDOT and CTDOT a minimum of 2 weeks prior.
Motorists should be aware that modifications to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
