The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that pavement preservation will be performed on I-91 from Exit 45-49 in East Windsor and Enfield which requires the temporary closure of on and off-ramps. The ramp closures are scheduled to start Monday, June 16 and be completed in October 2025. The project consists of fine milling, pavement repairs, joint and crack filling and placement of new pavement and pavement markings. This preservation treatment applies to mainline I-91 and all interstate on and off-ramps within the project limits.
CTDOT Project No. 0046-0131 was awarded to Tilcon Connecticut, Inc. at a cost of $30,674,887.00 on March 26, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed in April 2027. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
There will be lanes and ramps closed on I-91 north and southbound from Exit 45-49 nightly, Monday through Friday from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Only one on and off-ramp will be closed at a time. Electronic message boards and detour signage will direct motorists to an another on or off-ramp. Traffic control signing patterns, State and local police and flaggers will guide motorists through the work zone and associated detours.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
