Pavement Rehabilitation on I95 in Greenwich and Stamford

4/24/2025

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that pavement rehabilitation construction activities will be resuming on I-95 between Exit 2 and Exit 6 in Greenwich and Stamford. This project started Monday, April 1 and will be completed Sunday, November 30, 2025. Project 0056-0316 consists of rehabilitation of the existing bituminous pavement with a new more durable pavement mix. It is proposed to mill approximately 3” and place 2” Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA) on top of 1” Binder Rich Interlayer Course (BRIC). Distressed areas that extend beyond the 3” mill will receive additional milling and patching with bituminous. Bridge work consists of SPMO (Strip, patch, membrane and overlay), replacement of impacted joints and concrete haunch removal. Traffic loops and signal loops on ramps will be replaced. Additional work includes replacement of catch basin tops, replacement of small traffic signs with no foundations and replacement of pavement markings.

CTDOT Project No. 0056-0316 was awarded to Waters Construction Co Inc. at a cost of $61,283,925.38 on November 21, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed November 30, 2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 3 in New Haven.
