Milling and Resurfacing on State Road 535 and Route 71 in West Hartford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on State Road 535 in West Hartford from Route 71 (New Britain Avenue) to Ridgewood Road and the Route 71 ramp towards Interstate 84 eastbound.

This project is scheduled to occur on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, and be completed on Monday, June 2, 2025. Project DOT01710506CN consists of milling and resurfacing a 0.33-mile segment of State Road 535 in West Hartford from Route 71 (New Britain Avenue) to Ridgewood Road and the Route 71 ramp toward Interstate 84 Eastbound.

This milling portion of the project is scheduled to begin by Tilcon on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 to Wednesday, May 28, 2025. The resurfacing segment of this project by Galasso Materials is anticipated to begin on Sunday, June 1, 2025 to Monday June 2, 2025.

This project is included in CTDOT’s 2025 Vendor Resurfacing Program.

 

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

Motorists can expect lane closures of State Road 535 in West Hartford from Route 71 (New Britain Avenue) to Ridgewood Road and Route 71 ramp towards Interstate 84. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The night work schedule for this project is from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Monday to Thursday.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
