The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 9 in Cromwell, Berlin and New Britain from the North Road underpass to the Ellis Street overpass. This project is scheduled to occur on Sunday, April 27 and be completed on Thursday June 12, 2025. The project DOT01710506CN consists of milling and resurfacing a 5.17-mile segment of Route 9 north and southbound in Cromwell, Berlin and New Britain from the North Road underpass to the Ellis Street overpass. This project is scheduled to begin milling by Rafferty Fine Milling on Sunday April 27 to Wednesday, May 28, 2025. The resurfacing segment of this project by American Industries is anticipated to begin on Thursday, May 29 to Thursday, June 12, 2025.
This project is included in CTDOT’s 2025 Vendor Resurfacing Program.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
Motorists can expect lane closures of Route 9 north and southbound in Cromwell, Berlin and New Britain from the North Road underpass to the Ellis Street overpass. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The night work schedule for this project is from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Monday to Thursday. No work will be performed around any scheduled holidays.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area. No work will be performed around any scheduled holidays.
