The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 85 in New London and Waterford. This project is scheduled to occur on Thursday evening, May 1 and be completed on Friday morning, June 13, 2025. Project No. DOT01720536CN “AA” consists of milling and resurfacing a 2.59-mile segment of Route 85 from Colman Street in New London to Cross Road in Waterford. This project is scheduled to begin milling by Rafferty Fine Grading Inc. on Thursday evening, May 1 to Wednesday morning, May 14, 2025. The resurfacing segment of this project by American Industries Inc. is anticipated to begin on Wednesday evening, May 21 to Friday morning, June 13, 2025.
This project is included in CTDOT’s 2025 Vendor Resurfacing Program.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 85 from Colman Street in New London to Cross Road in Waterford. Traffic control personnel, crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The nighttime work schedule for this project is from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Sunday evening to Friday morning.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
