Milling and Resurfacing on Route 81 in Killingworth

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 81 in Killingworth. This project is scheduled to occur on Monday, June 2, 2025 and be completed on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.

Project No. DOT01720536CN “BB” consists of milling and resurfacing a 4.10-mile segment of Route 81 in Killingworth from south of the roundabout to the Killingworth/Haddam Town Lines. This milling segment of this project by Rafferty Fine Grading Inc. is anticipated to begin on Monday, June 2, 2025 to Tuesday, June 10, 2025. The resurfacing segment of this project by American Industries Inc. is anticipated to begin on Monday, June 23, 2025 to Tuesday, July 8, 2025. No work will be performed on the Independence Day holiday.

This project is included in CTDOT’s 2025 Vendor Resurfacing Program.

 

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 81 in Killingworth. Traffic control personnel, crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone.  The work schedule for this project is from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
