The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 123 in New Canaan. This project is scheduled to occur on Sunday, May 11 and be completed on Thursday, May 22, 2025. The project DOT01730543CN consists of milling and resurfacing a 1.11-mile segment of Route 123 (Smith Ridge Road) in New Canaan from Michigan Road to the New York state line. This project is scheduled to begin milling by A & J Construction on Sunday, May 11 to Wednesday May 14, 2025. The resurfacing segment of this project by O & G is anticipated to begin on Sunday, May 18 to Thursday, May 22, 2025.
This project is included in CTDOT’s 2025 Vendor Resurfacing Program.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
Motorists can expect lane closures of Route 123 (Smith Ridge Road) from Michigan Road to the New York state line in New Canaan. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The work schedule for this project is from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Sunday night to Friday morning.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
