The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on I-291 in Windsor and South Windsor. This project is scheduled to occur on Sunday, July 20 and be completed on Thursday, September 18, 2025. The project DOT01710506CN “E” consists of milling and resurfacing a 3.61-mile segment of I-291 in Windsor and South Windsor from 0.16 miles east of the beginning of the overpass for I-91 to the eastbound end overpass of Route 30 (omitting the Bissell Bridge). This project is scheduled to begin milling by Rafferty Fine Grading on Sunday, July 20 to Thursday, August 7, 2025. The resurfacing segment of this project by Galasso Materials is anticipated to begin on Sunday, August 3 to Thursday, September 18, 2025.
This project is included in CTDOT’s 2025 Vendor Resurfacing Program.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
Motorists can expect lane closures of I-291 in Windsor and South Windsor from 0.16 miles east of the beginning of the overpass for I-91 to the eastbound end overpass of Route 30 (omitting the Bissell Bridge). Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The work schedule for this project is from 6:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday to Friday.
There will be a ramp closure of I-91 southbound Exit 35A to I-291 eastbound starting on Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
