The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that metallizing of the bridges carrying Route 8 over Laurel Hill Road in Torrington. This work is scheduled to occur July 10 and be completed on Monday, September 8, 2025. The project 0065-0114 consists of Metallizing of 19 Bridges along the Route 8 corridor between Torrington and Colebrook.
CTDOT Project No. 0065-0114 was awarded to Allied Painting Inc. at a cost of $15,757,497.05 on 12/22/2024 and is scheduled to be completed 11/30/2027. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 4 in Thomaston.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
Laurel Hill Road will be closed to traffic starting Thursday, July 10 through Monday, September 8, 2025. Eastbound Traffic will be detoured onto Harwinton Avenue, then right onto Hill Street, then right onto Rosen Avenue, then right onto Hillside. Westbound traffic will be detoured onto the Hillside, then left onto Rosen Avenue, then left onto Hill Street, then left onto Harwinton Avenue. Traffic control signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
