Installations and Revisions of Traffic Control Signals in various towns in Connecticut

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing installation and revision of traffic control signals at 10 locations in Mansfield, New London, Plainfield, Portland, Deep River, and Stonington. This project is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed on Friday, August 22, 2026. At applicable locations, pedestrian control features, such as countdown pedestrian indications, accessible pushbuttons, and sidewalk ramps), will be upgraded to improve accessibility and pedestrian safety. The project 0172-0513 consists of installing and of revising new and existing traffic control systems.

CTDOT Project No. 0172-0513 was awarded to Ferguson Electric Company, Inc. at a cost of $4,617,000.00 on October 18, 2024. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

There will be various lane closures from April 1, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Traffic control signing patterns flaggers, state and local police officers will guide motorists through the work zone.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area
