The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that installation of new RRFBs will be performed at the following locations on various municipally owned and maintained roads.
- Colchester - Old Hartford Road at Airline Trail
- East Hampton- Smith Street at Airline Trail
- Hebron- Old Colchester Road at Airline Trail
- Marlborough- North Main Street at Ofshay Drive
- Portland- Breezy Corners Road at Airline Trail
- Putnam- Kennedy Drive at Riverview Landscape Supply
- Stonington- Coogan Boulevard at Maritime Drive & Pequotsepos Road at Nature Center
This project is scheduled to occur on Monday, April 21 and be completed on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. The project 0172-0505 consists of pedestrian crosswalk safety enhancements with new RRFBs. Existing pedestrian crossing signs will be replaced with the new bright flashing solar powered push button RRFB. These improvements will enhance visibility and help reduce pedestrian crashes. This project also includes the construction and reconstruction of sidewalk ramps and concrete landing areas. Existing pavement markings will also be upgraded.
CTDOT Project No. 0172-0505 was awarded to Superior Electric, LLC at a cost of $438, 738.00 on December 4, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed June 17, 2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
There will be periodic lane closures at the above noted locations Monday, April 21 to Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Traffic control signing patterns, flaggers, and local police departments will guide motorists through the work zone.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
