The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a high-friction surface treatment project will begin in Preston, Hampton, Montville, Mansfield, Pomfret and Salem starting the week of July 7, 2025.
Numerous locations throughout Eastern Connecticut will be receiving a high-friction surface treatment to various lengths of pavement. Locations are listed in the table below.

CTDOT Project No. 0172-0542/0543 was awarded to WJ Surface Treatments LLC at a cost of $1,521,389.87 on May 27, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed November 25, 2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich.
LANE SHIFT INFO
There will be alternating one-way traffic patterns occurring to facilitate motorists through the various work zones. Lane closures are expected to begin the week of July 7, 2025. Traffic Control Devices, such as drums and signage will guide motorists through the work zones.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays and/or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work sites.
