The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is providing an update on the bridge rehabilitation activities taking place on Bridge No. 02380, located at the I-84 Eastbound Exit 56 ramp in East Hartford. The work at this site began on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, and due to additional bridge rehabilitation activities, is now scheduled for completion on Monday November 3, 2025. Prior to reopening the ramp, a revised traffic pattern will be implemented to shift traffic, allowing the ramp to reopen while maintaining access for a future project. The overall project consists of pin and hanger rehabilitation on various bridges throughout District 1.
CTDOT Project No. 0170-3551 was awarded to Rotha Contracting Company, Inc. at a cost of $5,413,828.30 on December 28, 2022, and is scheduled to be completed on July 2, 2026. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
Exit 56 on I-84 Eastbound closure is being extended until Monday November 3, 2025. Traffic will be detoured using two detour routes. Motorists will follow the posted detours or advised to seek alternate routes. Traffic control signing patterns and detour signage will guide motorists through the work zone and detours.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
