The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the removal of the culvert under West Stafford Rd will be performed on Route 190 in Stafford. This project is scheduled to occur on Monday, June 9 and be completed on Friday, September 5, 2025. The project 0134-0153 consists of removing the abandoned culvert that is under Route 190 to avoid future culvert failure and maintenance that may occur on Route 190. The project will consist of excavating the roadway in stages to remove the existing masonry arch that passes through the entire width of Route 190. This will be obtained by using shoulder and one lane closure at times.
CTDOT Project No. 0134-0153 was awarded to Dayton Construction Company, Inc at a cost of $813,351.20 on May 5, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed September 5, 2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
There will be shoulder, and one lane closures as warranted on Route 190 from Monday, June 9 to Friday, September 5, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Traffic control signing patterns, flaggers, and police will guide motorists through the work zone.
Route 190 will be closed for a maximum of 85 consecutive hours between July 24 and August 21, 2025. The closure shall be a weekday closure from any Monday, 7:00 a.m. through Thursday, 8:00 p.m. between the above dates. Detour information will be issued with future notification after the timeframe becomes certain.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
