The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the detour of Route 191 in East Windsor will be extended to spring 2026. The project was initially designed to temporarily reopen the roadway during the winter of 2024/2025, but it is necessary for the roadway to remain closed for the entire duration of the project. Project 0046-0127 consists of replacing Bridge No. 01524 with a steel beam, reinforced cast in place concrete deck superstructure on top of precast abutment stems that rest on cast in place footings with deep foundations. Additionally, the road profile will be raised approximately four feet.
CTDOT Project No. 0046-0127 was awarded to ROTHA Contracting Co., Inc. at a cost of $9,077,089.26 on September 11, 2023, and is scheduled to be complete by April 15, 2026. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.

The section of Route 191 at Mahoney Road and Old Ellington Road will continue to be closed to traffic until April 2026. Motorists will follow the posted detour or advised to seek alternate routes.
