Wrong Way Detection Installations in the Greater Hartford Area

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the start of wrong way detection installations in the Greater Hartford area on July, 27, 2024. This project includes wrong way detection systems to be installed at 42 limited access highway off-ramps that are considered high-risk locations for wrong-way drivers.

This project includes various ramps in the following towns: Berlin, Cheshire, Cromwell, East Hartford, East Windsor, Enfield, Glastonbury, Hartford, Manchester, Meriden, Middlefield, Middletown, New Britain, Southington, South Windsor, Vernon, West Hartford, Willington, and Windsor. See list below for specific ramp locations.

CTDOT Project No. 0171-0495 was awarded to A.M Rizzo Electrical Contractors Inc at a cost of $6,793,124.10 on June 13, 2024, is scheduled to be completed on November 12, 2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.

  • Windsor - Hamilton Road at Route 20 eastbound ramps
  • Windsor - Route 75 (Ella Grasso Turnpike) at Route 20 eastbound ramps
  • Windsor - Route 75 (Poquonock Avenue) at I-91 southbound ramps
  • Windsor - Meadow Road at I-91 northbound ramps
  • Windsor - Route 218 (Putnam Highway) at I-291 eastbound/westbound ramps

LANE CLOSURE/ DETOUR INFO

Motorists can expect various impacts on the above listed areas, Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.; Saturday through Sunday between 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 a.m. No detours are currently anticipated at this time.
