Wrong Way Detection Installation on I-84 Westbound Exit 9 Ramp in Newtown

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing a wrong way detection installation will take place on I-84 westbound at Exit 9 in Newtown. This project is scheduled to occur on Tuesday, March 26 with a rain date of Thursday, March 28, 2024.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Motorists can expect lane closures on Exit 9 of I-84 west in Newtown. Traffic will be detoured Exit 8 onto Route 6 westbound, left at the split towards I-84 eastbound, left onto Route 6 eastbound, back onto I-84 eastbound (Exit 8 on-ramp), take exit 9. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The night work schedule for this project is 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Monday through Friday.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
